    Technology professionals have a profound role in today’s society. The products they design are changing the way we live and even changing what it means to be human. This has the potential to deliver a lot of benefit, but also requires ethical thinking to ensure that we create a society that works for everyone.

    Key takeaways:

    This workshop will focus on the ethics of algorithms and artificial intelligence and will include:

    • Introduction to ethics of artificial intelligence

    • Introduction to the ethics of data collection and algorithmic processes

    • Workshopping through different thought experiments and scenario planning

    • A focus on how power is discussed in the context of algorithms and artificial intelligence.

    This will be a live workshop with up to 20 people, facilitated by Alice Thwaite. The workshop will take place on Zoom. Links will be mailed to you before the workshop start time.

    Seminar


    We learn by doing. A seminar gives you the time and space to reflect on the concepts we learned in the workshop, and to come back to a community to discuss and refine your ideas.​

     

    A seminar includes:

    • A structured worksheet for independent study, which should take 3-5 hours
    • Constructive and positive feedback
    • 1 hour seminar with a small group of like minded individuals to discuss key topics​
